ESTUARIES OF THE SOUTH HAMS
The Dart Estuary, Kingsbridge Estuary, The Avon Estuary, The
Erme Estuary and the Yealm Estuary all have their own
characteristics and offer great walking opportunities.
Circular walks along the estuary banks and amongst the trees
taking advantage of the passenger ferries can provide a very
varied walking experience. Changes of sea level during the
last ice age has left some dramatic features along some of
these little known walking areas.

DARTMOOR
The granite moor land of Dartmoor offers great potential for
all levels of walking from easy strolls to strenuous walks
through unmarked moor land wilderness. Dartmoor has many
aspects which are of interest from its past as the core of
an Andean scale mountain chain to the dramatic impact of the
recent ice ages and the evidence of man’s activities over
the last few thousand years, from stone rows and megaliths
to granite quarries and tin mines. The Dartmoor ponies are
easily seen but if you are lucky you may see deer or otters
making their comeback on the fringes of the moor.

BODMIN MOOR

giving you the opportunity to see parts of Cornwall.

THE TWO MOORS WAY
From Ivybridge on the southern slopes of Dartmoor to Lynton
on the north coast of Exmoor the Two Moors Ways winds across
high moor land and through the tranquil heart of Devon’s
farmland. The TMW measures a distance of around 100 miles
taking about 5 or 6 days to complete. Pack-horses,
collection and parking are available.

SOUTH WEST COAST PATH
All sections of the South West Coastal Path from Plymouth to
Torbay are within easy reach. The Path varies in gradient
and the type of scenery from the rugged cliffs of Bolt Head
to the ever changing shingle beaches and reed beds of
Slapton Ley. The sighting of a large variety of birds,
dolphins, seals and basking sharks can add an extra
dimension to the day.
